Research
This 28-week Masterclass delves deeply into Katherine’s original 1994-1995 research on the ‘internal experience’ of the 9 Enneagram Types and how the 27 Tritype® Archetypes emerged from this seminal research.
Katherine shares how each Tritype® Archetype stems from the type 9, type 6 or type 3. For example, she will explain and show you why some Tritypes® like the 479 Tritype®, seems so 9ish and why the 468 will seem 8ish.
Defense System
Katherine will explain how the dominant instinct at the top of the instinctual subtype stacking is in charge of the Defense system.
An individual’s three ego-types merge to form the Tritype® Archetype which creates a very specific set of core needs based on the gifts and concerns these three types share in common. Together they create the implicit demands that the ego feels must be met in order to survive. Each Tritype® Archetype then attempts to neutralize those demands.
The defense strategies are the key to understanding your ego-types’s unmet emotional needs of your instinctual subtype and ego stacking is the CEO of the entire defense system. It represents the most primitive aspects of the personality and is always on alert.
Any perceived threat, real or imagined, triggers the unconscious “drive to survive” which then, in turn, signals the lead ego-type at the top of the three ego-types in the Tritype® to “protect and defend” the mental, emotional and physical needs and concerns of the types in the Tritype®. This when the fixations, passions and convictions go on red alert.
The type at the top of the Tritype® Stacking is in charge of the ego-aspects of the personality. This ego-defense continues to oscillate until there is some type resolution.
The antidotes to an over reactive defense system is to return to the Higher more Essential Self and come from the Holy Ideas Holy Virtues and Holy Actions.
